I was in South Africa for about three weeks. It had been 13 years since my last visit which was pre-Mandela. Cape Town is without question one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I spent a month there last time and loved every minute of it. I met some great people, too. Anyway, I only include a few pretty pix because they can be boring.
My only regret this time was that I flew out the day that South Africa won the rugby world cup. I missed a great party, I am sure.
Nelson Mandela
I met this girl my last day in South Africa. I wondered why she was wearing leggings on a warm day. She revealed that she had spider bites on her legs from her guest house.
She was embarrassed. I took photos.
I met this girl at a school visit in Pretoria. She confided to me, "I am racist."
"Huh? You don't like white people?" I asked.
"I don't like black people," she said.
"What are you talking about? Isn't there black blood in you?
She waved her hand dismissively. "That was a long time ago."
