Halfway Around the World 2005
Eastern Europe and the Caucasus
I flew standby one way into Copenhagen on Icelandair with Airtech and hitchhiked to Moldova the long way via Germany, Austria, Hungary and Romania. I continued east to the Soviet nostalgic enclave of the Transdniester Republic, then to Ukraine for a flight to Baku, Azerbaijan for the Caucasian part of the trip. (It always feels funny to say that.) Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, then Turkey and back to Europe. Easy!
